Announcements and news 10/25-31/2010

  • On Halloween, we will be hosting a Magic Game Day at 1:00. Details on how to build a faction deck
  • Tomorrow, I have a meeting with my new landlord at 57 Easton Rd, Glenside PA 19038. We may be able to move the week before Thanksgiving. Once the move takes place, I will honor old punch cards, but will not issue new ones. Early in 2011, I will figure out how to properly award my loyal customers.
  • I am going to offer $70 store credit to the person that can get me an original drawing of a Phoenix. It needs to look good in a single color outline. You must submit it in a high-res file, so that we can use it on shirts. I’m asking for an original drawing so that we can use it royalty free.
  • I would like to thank you all for helping 7th Dimension Games beat The GameShelf! We don’t have much of a lead, so we will have to stay vigilant.
  • A female player has requested that I announce a women’s game night. If you are an interested woman, or know a woman that might be interested, let me know.

The Future

  • On November 7, Battlefront wants to give you a box of tanks for Tanksgiving. We have two scenarios to choose from. The suggested scenario is linked – although if players want to do a free-for-all with points going to tank killers, we can subsitute that. We will be using late war armies.
  • In early 2011 we will start an early war escalation league for FOW.

This week

  • Tuesday the 26th the WoW TCG event will be “All too Common” – your deck may only contain common cards. 6:00 open board games.
  • Wednesday: the figure painters will be working.
  • Thursday: L5R
  • Friday: 6:30 Friday Night Magic – 2 headed Giant.
  • Saturday: Cthulhu LCG in the afternoon; open board games in the Evening.
  • Sunday: Warmachine; 1:00 Magic Game Day.

Monday Knight Productions makes Mats, miniatures and stuff. I will be putting in an order this week, if you’d like me to include something, let me know as soon as possible.

A female player has requested that I announce a women’s game night. If you are an interested woman, or know a woman that might be interested, let me know.

This Saturday we host the EPGS game day. Feel free to come for all day games.

It looks like the move to 357 Easton Rd, Glenside PA 19038 will be either December or next year. Once the move takes place, I will honor old punch cards, but will not issue new ones. Early in 2011, I will figure out how to properly award my loyal customers.

One of the biggest game stores in the country started tracking how many fans that game stores have on Facebook. Every time we add fans, I check to see if we have moved up the rankings. But every week, we keep falling just behind The GameShelf. That’s right, we are being beaten by Canadians. If we can add just 7 people before they do we can beat them! Can you help us out?

Announcements and news 10/11-17/2010

This week we got in several new titles, Inca Empire, Betrayal at the House on the Hill and Dominion Prosperity. Dominion Prosperity sold out immediately, so if you want a copy please let me know how many I have to reorder.

Saturday night I will be putting Cleopatra and the Society of Architects on the table, it has been way to long since I’ve had a chance to play that, so I need to teach some new players.

This week we are hosting Shadowfist Saturday.

I’ve had a few questions about using tables. My policy is that if a table is empty, and there is no tournament about to start, you are welcome to come in and use it to play a game. So, if you have two or three people that want to come in and play a hand of Dominion or whatever, feel free to come in any time.

Still no word on a move date to our new location at 357 Easton Rd, Glenside PA 19038. After talking with successful retailers, I have decided to end the punch card system after the move, or when I run out of the current batch of cards. It doesn’t track easily and throws off the books. I will be trying to figure out how to implement a loyalty system that balances rewards while allowing the store to make a profit.

This week

Tuesday: 7:00 WoW TCG Battleground will be doing a draft. 6:00 open board games.

Gross Income by Hour

In my last post about sales, I just counted the number of receipts we rung up. It occurred to me that didn’t show the difference between buying a Slim Jim or buying Planet Steam. Using the same data, I whipped this up, which shows when we were given the most money.

When we sell

You can be Betrayed

Today we have Betrayal at House on the Hill, Jerusalem, a restock of Scars of Mirrodin and Invasion from Outer Space (written by the guys that brought us Last Night on Earth).

Today's stuff

Sales breakdown by hour

After arriving late, I wondered, how many sales would I miss if I was closed for an hour?

My POS system tells me sales for a particular hour, or a particular day, but what I wanted was sales per hour per day. So, I spent way to much time today creating a graph.

When we sell

For the last 91 days, this is when we sold stuff (I subtracted sales to myself, or sales I do on the web). Saturdays are the only day we open at 10, so the small lump there is 1.3% of sales which we do before noon on Saturday. This Sunday was unusual in that we opened before noon for the Magic Pre-release, so the morning 1.4% of sales won’t be there most reports.

Friday at 6 is when the Magic Tournament buy in starts, so the 8.2% of all sales during that hour includes the board game and miniature game guys leaving while the Magic group buys in.
